We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
What a difficult thing it is for us to die to ourselves and find our life through Christ. Yet we are called to do nothing less. Today Dani and Ally are being baptized by the same Pastor who baptized me – my dad. I praise God for what he is doing in the lives and hearts of my girls.
Peter reminds us that baptism is not about having dirt washed from our bodies, but “an appeal to God for a good conscience”. We identify in this act of faith with the death and resurrection of Jesus. Death to ourselves. Eternal and victorious life through Christ who sits at the right hand of the God, with angels, authorities and powers subject to him.
Thank you Lord for the redemptive work of the Cross. I pray that today that your Spirit will fill Ally and Dani, and that they will know the fullness of salvation. I give them to you today and ask that you use them mightily for you glory. – Amen
